Rom 1:16  A powerful passage we often use in relationship to the gospel.  What is the gospel and what do we need to know about it?  That's our lesson for this morning. The gospel originated with God - Eph 3: 8-11;  John 12:49

1) THE GOSPEL
     a.  Good news, glad tidings - Rom 10:15
     b.  What should we do with it?  Taught and preached - Mt 28: 19,20; Mk 16: 15,16
     c.  Why?  It appeals to man's intellect - John 6:44,45

2)  THE GOSPEL-2
     a.  Is God's saving power Rom 1:16
     b.  Is certified - Gal 1: 11,12
     c.  Is God's call - 2 Thess 2: 14, It's God's drawing power, but not irresistible Heb 4:2
     d.  Is God's means of begetting 1 Cor 4:15
     e.  You must believe it or be lost - Rom 1:16; Mk 16:16; Heb 4:2  Compare with human doctrines
      f.  You must obey or be destroyed - 1 Pet 4: 17,18; 2 Thess 1:7-9
     g.  You can't afford to forget 1 Cor 15:12; Heb 2:1-4
     h.  Bears no substitution Gal 1:6-9; 2 John 9
     i.   Gives light - 2 Cor 4: 3,4; 2 Tim 1:10
     j.   Is of Christ - Phil 1:27

          Gifts of the Holy Spirit - Acts 2:38
