Remember Christ                          12/9/07
As part of our "Remember" series we need to certainly remember the life of our Lord every day.  Today we will examine how we need to remember Him everyday. 1 Corinthians 2:2


1)  Paul Wanted To Know Jesus
     
a. Phil 3: 7-11 -
         
1. Our greatest goal should be to know Him
     
b. Paul's desire for others to know Him
         
1. Eph  1: 16-21 - his desire was for others to know Him
         
2. Gal 2:20 - Paul walked the walk...
       
   3. To know means to have a deep knowledge of
     c.  Paul's example - 2 Tim 2:8-13; 2 Tim 3: 10-13

2)  For A Christian To Remember Him Is To Know Him
     
a.  Matt 22: 37-39 - God first in a person's heart.  More than just a simple remembrance..
      b.  Phil 2: 1-11 - Being of one mind is to follow the example of Christ as was exemplified in Paul
           1.  Being like-minded, having the same love (2:1-2)
           2.  Having a humble spirit, looking out for others (2: 3-4)
           3.  Looking to the example of Christ in humility (2: 5-11)
     
c.  Col 3: 1-4 - It's a totally different way of thinking as opposed to the world

3)  To Know Him Is To Be a New Person In Him - Col 3: 12-17
      a.  (Things) put on..
           1.  Heart of compassion, heart felt mercy
           2.  Kindness: gentleness
           3.  Meekness: submissiveness, Matt 11: 28-29
           4.  Lowliness: humbleness of mind Phil 2:3
          
5.  Longsuffering: patiently enduring
          
6.  Forbearing: bear with, endure, Eph 4: 1-3
          
7.  Forgiving: as the Lord forgave you
          
8.  Love: the bond of perfectness (perfection), fulfillment of the law, Rom 13: 8-10;
                John 13: 34-35; 1 Cor 13: 4-7
           9. 
Let peace (of God) rule: brabeuo, award prizes, judge, decided, control, rule,
umpire

          10  Let the word of Christ dwell{in you richly} : in fullness, permanent abode; govern and
                 control life.
          11  {Do all in} name of Christ: " mindful of Christ," in His stead; what He would do {according
                 to His word.

          1.  Fornication - all illicit sexual intercourse or practice  1 Cor 5: 9-11; 6:9-11; Gal 5:19;  Eph 5: 3-5
          2.  Uncleanness - " in a moral sense, the impurity of luxurious, profligate living," Thayer
          3.  Passion - "passionate desire, depraved passion," Thayer. Rom 1:26: Col  3:5:; 1 Thess 4:5
          4.  Evil desire - word desire itself not bad; 37 times used, 3 good, Lk 22:15; Phil 1:23; 1 Thess 2:17

          5.  Covetousness- avarice
          6.  Anger - orge, indignation that has risen slowly, become fixed
          7.  Wrath - thumos passion, angry heat, outburst, boiling up, becoming settled
          8.  Malice - kakian, "Ill will, seek injury"
          9.  Railing - blasphemia, slander, speech injurious to another's good name," Thayer Jude 9, God
         10. Shameful speaking aischrologia, "foul speech, low and obscene speech," Thayer
         11. Lie not - Eph 4:25; John 8 :44; Rev 21:8
         12. Neither Jew nor Greek, racial prejudice to be removed

Remember Christ everyday and how He would act in every situation, and do likewise.
