In the gospel of John, seven times Jesus makes a bold statements about who He is.  What Jesus says means everything to a Christian.  That's our lesson for today.

1) I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE - 6: 35, 48
    A.  Life is more than material possessions - Lk 12:15
    B.  We die without food, physically and spiritually
    C.  We don't want to be in a spiritual famine - Psa 1: 1-3; 1 Pet 2:2

2) I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD - 9:5, 8:12
    A.  Implied there is darkness - meaning distress, mourning, perplexity, ignorance and death Isa 9:1-2
    B.  Also moral depravity - Jno 3:19; Eph 5: 11
    C.  Paul said many walk in darkness - Eph 4: 17-19
    D.  Jesus is THE light, not a light
    E.  Why did Jesus make this statement?  Jesus made this statement in the treasury of the temple
         where there were two colossal lamp stands the held a multitude of lamps that could be seen
         all over the city
         
3) I AM THE DOOR - 10:9
    A.  He IS the way to salvation - 1 Pet 1: 3-12
    B.  He IS the way to "pasture", to abundant life 10:10
    C.  Death is the door to salvation or destruction, and Jesus is the door to salvation

4) I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD - 10:11, 14
    A.  A shepherd takes care of His sheep, He knows His sheep and they will follow Him 2 Tim 2:19
    B.  Psa 23 - a wonderful account how He takes care of us. It's more than just hearing - Luke 6: 46-49
    C.  There is only one flock!  Eph 4:4; we have to be unified - Eph 2: 13-16;  Do what? Mt 28: 18-20
    D.  We have to be wary of predators - 2 Jno 9-10; He is willing to give His life for the sheep
    E.  There is a reward - Rev 7: 13-17

5) I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE - 11:25
    A.  He is the one who makes resurrection of the dead possible - gives us hope, 1 Pet 1:3, 1:21
    B.  He is the one who makes eternal life possible

6) I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE - 14:6
    A.  How could He say this with such authority?  Jno 1:18- declared,manifested God, Jno 6:46 - He came to
         earth from God; He is God Himself! Jno 1:1-2
    B.  The apostles of Jesus proclaimed that He was the complete manifestation of God Co 2:9, He 1:1-3

7) I AM THE TRUE VINE - 15:1,5
    A.  The source of spiritual life
         1.  We, therefore, must bear fruit .  winning souls and helping them to grow, Rom 1:13; sharing with
              those in need, Rom 15:28; developing a Christ-like character, 2 Pet 1: 5-8, Gal 5: 22-23
              giving thanks,Heb 13:15
    B.  But only those connected to Him are those who produce fruit

Conclusion:  It's evident from reading Jesus' words that He is the ONLY Way.  But, He is The Way to those
                    who obey.  If you haven't obeyed His word He is not Savior. He is the way, but only obedience
                    makes him your way.  All of these are there for you, but you have to obey.  Why not now!
