Every Good And Perfect Gift - James 1 : 17 -  2/11/07
Who doesn't like to receive a gift?  What if someone you know says they have the perfect gift for you?  Wouldn't you really look forward to it?  The Bible tells us that the gifts from above are both GOOD and PERFECT.  What are they?

1)   Jesus Christ 
         a.  The only - begotten Son of God  John 3 : 16; 1 John 4: 9 -10
         b.  His sinless life, yet tempted in all points  Hebrews 4: 14 - 16;  Matthew 4: 1 - 10; 2 Corinthians 5: 21
        c.   The works He performed (saving humanity, moral kingdom, physical miracles)
               Matthew 1: 21; Ephesians 4: 20 -24; John 18: 36 - 37; John 20: 30 - 31
        d.   Redemption secured through His sacrifice Hebrews 2: 8 - 10; Romans 5: 8 - 10
        e.   His triumph Acts 2: 32 - 37, Ephesians 1: 20- 23        

2)   The Bible/The Gospel  
         
a.  What it reveals - The mind of God.  His revelation for mankind.  It tells about God, heaven, eternity,
                etc.  I Corinthians 2: 6 - 13
          b.  Reveals a man to himself - James 1: 22 - 25
          c.  The past revealed and the future disclosed - Hebrews 1: 1 - 4;   John 16: 12 - 14
          d.  It's freshness is as important today as when it was written thousands of years ago.  I Pet 1: 24 - 25
          e.  It's influence is without equal throughout history..it's antiquity is unrivaled  Genesis 1: 1  
       
   f.   Revealed by the Holy Spirit   John 16: 7 - 14
          g.  Christ - the love of God revealed  John 3: 16
          h. Redemption - the purpose of God revealed  Romans 1: 16 - 17;  3: 24;  I Peter 1: 9 -12

3)   The Church  
          a
Christ -  the founder: purchased with His blood  Matthew 16: 18;  1 Corinthinas 3: 10 -11; Acts 20:28
          b.  A spiritual house and dwelling place for God 
Ephesians 2: 19 - 22
          c.  Shows God's excellencies  I Peter 2: 9 - 10;  Matthew 5: 16 - 17

4)   Salvation
       aPeace in Christ - Philippians 4: 6 - 7
         b.   Freedom from the bondage of sin - John 8: 31 - 36; Titus 2: 11- 14
         c.   The hope of heaven -
1 Peter 1: 3 - 5

CONCLUSION   - TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE GIFTS.  THEY ARE THE GREATEST OF ALL!
