NORTHSIDE CHURCH OF CHRIST

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA

What We Believe / What To Expect When You Visit

Christians that meet and worship together at Northside believe that the Bible is Truth and our only guide, and in it you will find the words that lead to eternal life.  (Romans 1: 16, 2 Timothy 3: 16 - 17)  Everyone is encouraged not to solely rely on what the speaker says, but to study God's Word on their own to make sure that what is being taught is correct in relationship to the Word of God. ( Acts 17: 11)   Our aim is to preach what is written and not add anything to, or take anything away from it. (Revelation 22: 18 - 19)

We believe that salvation is in Christ and that complete obedience to His Will is necessary for one to be saved.  We believe that one must have faith in Him as is taught the gospel (Ephesians 2:8),  and that comes through hearing the word (Romans 10: 17), believing that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God (John 8: 24), repenting of our sins (Luke 13:3), confessing His name before others (Matthew 10: 32 - 33), and being buried in baptism for the remission of sins and not because of the remission of sins (Mark 16: 15 - 16, Matthew 28: 19 - 20, Acts 2: 38).   Also, one then must remain obedient to God's Word.
(John 14: 21 - 23).

When you visit with us you will be treated with respect and genuine kindness.  If you are visiting with us on the Lord's Day (Sunday) you will observe that we eat the bread and drink the fruit of the vine in memory of the death of Christ on the cross (Matt 26: 26 - 28). You will also notice that like the Christians in the first century we engage in Acappella (without musical instruments) singing.  We will sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5: 19, Colossians 3: 16).  We believe that the "heart" of the individual is the instrument emphasized in the New Testament and not a mechanical one. You will also notice that one of the men of the congregation will lead our minds as we reverently pray to God
(I Timothy 2: 1 - 5).  Also,  on the Lord's Day a free-will collection will be taken from the members to support the work that occurs locally
(I Corinthians 16: 1 - 2).  We believe the Bible teaches that this is the only way that money should be collected and as a visitor you are not required to contribute.

If visiting, please fill out one of our visitor cards and give it to one of our members at the conclusion of the service.  Also, if you have ANY questions about what you hear and observe, please feel free to ask.  Thank you again for visiting.
